If there is one thing that Esmeralda knows about herself, it’s that she’s the farthest thing from a normal child that she’s ever heard of. And honestly, she couldn’t remember when this had all started. As far as she could remember, she had always had these problems… These hungers, for human flesh and blood. She couldn’t ever remember not looking at someone around her and wondering what they would taste like, what their blood would feel like on her tongue… By age 7, she was starting to refuse normal food, saying it wasn’t enough, and that there wasn’t enough human to it.
She was 8 years old the first time she bit herself in attempts to feed. In doing so, she discovered three things: One, she liked the pain that came with her teeth breaking skin; two, she didn’t like the way the hair of her arm felt in her mouth - she’d have to get rid of that somehow; and three, she liked the taste of her own flesh. It was as this first bite was healing that she discovered yet another problem - she couldn’t seem to leave her healing wound alone, despite any kind of pain that may come from it.
As the years went on, Mera’s cravings got stronger, and she came to realize that she just wasn’t like other kids her age. Her parents began homeschooling her at just 9 years old, and after she attempted to attack and bite another boy when she was 11, she was banned from playing with other children. Being without others to play with and constantly told that she wasn’t good enough to have friends took its toll on Mera’s mind, and before long, she was easily depressed.
At age 17, she began to refuse real food completely, opting instead to eat pieces of her own flesh to control her hunger. She was hospitalized for the first time due to starvation at 19, and by the time she turned 21, she was long since termed anorexic. It was difficult to tell, but she had also begun to see things by this time, small hallucinations due to starvation. Things like oddly colorful spiders, monsters, even sometimes strange variations of normal animals. It was after she was found in her room, bleeding out from a deep bite to her own wrist, that her diary was finally taken and read, and after finding its disturbing contents, she was admitted to Gravespoint Asylum.
Name → Rory Flanagan
Age → 19
Disorder/Staff Member → Self harm, intentional and non, with a side of pyromania
Status → Taken
Ships → Rory/Happiness, Rory/Chemistry
Rory had grown up as an only child, his mother was a successful business woman, and his father a top notch lawyer. They loved him, he knew, but he never saw his mother as he saw the nanny, Debbie. He had spent more time with her then anyone else. The first time he had cut himself, was in the kitchen, trying to grab a glass before it dropped on the kitchen tile, some of the shards stuck in his arm. Rory hadn’t screamed, cried or even flinched. In fact, he thought it was beautiful, the way the dark red blood looked against his pale white skin. Debbie had heard the smash, and ran to him in a panic, the glass and blood starting to drip onto the floor. That was when he first started to cut.
Name → Jake Puckerman
Age → 15
Disorder/Staff Member → Species Dysphoria, Anger issues stemming from unknown childhood sexual abuse (by his father).
Status → Taken
Ships → Jake/Chemistry
If Jake’s mother had any idea what was really wrong with her son, she would’ve never commented on how cute his barking was. She would’ve never chuckled and said “Good puppy!” when he would playfully rub his head against her leg. Sure, it was cute when he was a child, but once he got older, it became embarrassing. He would distract everyone by meowing in class, and if anyone said anything he didn’t like, he’d growl and bite them. When the school psychologist asked him what was going on, Jake simply shrugged and told him that he was a dog and that people should treat him like one. When questioned about his father, Jake tackled the psychologist to the ground and bit his arm so hard that he had to get stitches. After getting a call from the school and being told what her son had said and done, Jake’s mom started to do research on the computer. That’s when she came across the term ‘species dysphoria’. It fit her son to a T. When she brought him to see a psychiatrist, it only took one session for the psychiatrist to confirm her worst fear. With a diagnosis now in place and criminal charges pending, Jake’s mother decided that it was for the best that they put him somewhere he could get help, rather than have him rot in juvie.

Being the child of an alcoholic father and a mother who never had the strength to leave him, Marleys childhood had been anything but happy. Her days consisted of hiding out wherever and whenever she could, just so she wouldn´t have to go home and watch her mother getting beaten up by her Dad. The smallest thing would set him off and it wasn´t long until he would start to go for her, Marley could only pray that she was faster than him. Her nights consisted of laying still on her bed, hearing her parents fight through the thin walls and hoping that tonight, he wouldn´t come into her room and do things she knew couldn´t be right.
The doctors are convinced that her disorders started to show themselves for the first time during those times. Marley built her own worlds as a hiding place for herself, she needed places to escape and sometimes it didn´t seem possible to find her way back into reality, but most of the time she didn´t even want to go back. She started to try and get herself into a dream like state of numbness, so she wouldn´t feel any pain.
With 16 Marley decided that she had enough and ran away. She was found by the police two days later, walking on the highway, seeming like she wasn´t even realizing that her life with in danger. She was brought to a foster family, who looked like they could be a new start for her, but Marley was already in too deep. Nightmares would leave her in fear of sleeping, and when she finally fell asleep due to exhaustion, her mother would find her sleepwalking in the kitchen, a knife in her hands. It would even go so far that she would start screaming out of nowhere, trying to hurt the people around her, she would black out after that and not remember a thing when she woke up. Her new family loved her deeply, even though she hadn´t been there for a long time, but they decided that she needed medical attention and admitted her to Gravespoint, where she has been trying to cope with all that has happened ever since.
Name → Angelica Hart
Age → 15
Disorder/Staff Member → Nightmare disorder, PTSD Positive
Status → Taken
Ships → Angelica/Male
Angelica was 5 years old when her parents and her 8 year old brother died in a household fire. From then on she was placed in different foster homes. No one asks questions when a 5 year old girl has imaginary friends, or talks to things that aren’t there. No one asks questions when a child wakes up screaming for her mother in the middle of the night, or doesn’t want to sleep anymore. But onces Angelica got older people start telling her to quite her childish games and ‘be normal’ but she couldn’t. She heard things no one else seemed to hear, she could see things, people. People like her brother. Also her nightmares that kept her awake at night became worse with the years. Soon no foster parent wanted her anymore and she got stuck in foster care. Until one day they also had enough of her pretending and figured there must be something wrong with her. Now Angelica got stuck in another house, not exactly knowing why. But she doesn’t care anymore, she didn’t care about anything anymore, she has become a real badass and doesn’t show her through feelings anymore, because no one wants to know them anyway.

The first time Matt heard about what Lima called the Surgical Killer, he wa 15 years old. The town was in an uproar, adults terrified and children confused. Matt, though, was utterly fascinated. The killer was intelligent, with carefully measured cuts and perfectly timed kills. His victims shared only two common links: they were all sports players at Lima’s McKinley High, and they were all known bullies. There was never any evidence left behind, and with the number of students that the victims bullied, it could have been anyone. Matt thought it was ingenius, really. With no proof and such a clean method of murder, it would take a miracle to find the killer. Matt could have a class with him, for all he knew. Maybe the killer liked him, knew how he idolized him. It was possible. Anything was possible.
After the fourth murder occurred, it became clear to Matt that it was time to send the killer a message, a sign of his idolization. On the evening of July 26th, he snuck into the home of student Kurt Hummel, skipping his last period class in favor of his message. With no warning and a frightening efficiency, Matt gutted both Burt and Carole Hummel, leaving no evidence at the scene. Within days, it reached Lima news that the Surgical Killer had been found in his father’s blood, and a confession to the four student murders had been obtained. Lima’s resident serial killer was local sweetheart Kurt Hummel, and he was being carted off to Shady Pines Rehabilitation Center to stabilize him and prepare him for a slow reintegration into a new society.
In Kurt’s absence, Matt took it upon himself to continue his legacy. As the gruesome guttings continued to occur and no evidence was found, the new killer grew to be deemed The Imitator. Though their styles were near identical, there was one pivotal difference that set the Imitator apart: there was no apparent motive behind his chosen victims. Where Kurt had gone after his bullies, the Imitator had no specific reason for his killings. Anyone and everyone was at risk as the killings grew more and more frequent. With six murders under his belt, it looked like Matt would never be caught. It wasn’t until someone came home an hour earlier than expected, due to a cancelled student government meeting, that he was finally found and, subsequently, taken into custody.
Matt’s room was investigated following his arrest, and what was found showed a degree of mental unrest that no one could quite understand how it had gone unnoticed. His walls were covered, floor to ceiling, with pictures of Kurt: school pictures, candid shots, family pictures, even screencaps of his mug shot and trial, anything with Kurt’s face, particularly his eyes. Above his headboard, filled like a collage, was a corkboard with every news article about the killings, including graphic pictures of the victims post mordem. The thick, coppery scent of the room lead them to find a small pile of knives, all still bloody, under the boy’s desk. But most unnerving of all was not any of these things. Most unnerving was his journal.
Aside from the detailed hand drawings of his victims after he had completed his work and the almost perfect sketches of Kurt, Matt had written hundreds of letters. Letters to Kurt. These letters professed his undying love and adoration for the murderous side of the boy. They gave detail to the victims he chose- name, age, sometimes even as far as details of what the person looked like, their class schedule, and who they were dating. They promised to keep up his legacy while he was away and to await his return. Most importantly, and most frequently, they spoke of their love, a sordid affair that he promised to keep out of the public eye, of a future that was bound together by a web of murder and fear. Matt’s final letter prior to detainment read simply, “Kurt, Our secret is safe, I promise. The one who knew will be eliminated. xx Matt”
Matt’s trial took no more than 30 days. It was only after giving a guilty plea that he was given an option: death row or an undetermined length of time in an asylum. Matt refused to choose for himself, leading to his lawyer opting for the asylum stay. Matt was sent off to Gravespoint Asylum on May 27th, just three days following Kurt’s transfer from Shady Pines. For the last two months, Matt has stayed silent and laid low, biding his time to make Kurt aware of his presence and rekindle the love affair that exists only in his head. And he won’t let anyone keep them apart.
